UBC cans
Aluminium used beverage can (UBC) scrap for secondary smelters and can-sheet recyclers.

Aluminium wire and cable scrap for remelting and secondary aluminium production. Quoted by ReMA/ISRI description: new or old, bare or insulated, unalloyed or mixed.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Material | Aluminium electrical conductor and cable scrap |
| Conductor alloys | 1350 (EC grade, min 99.50% Al) and 6000-series alloy conductors |
| Streams | Bare wire, insulated cable and steel-reinforced (ACSR) conductor kept separate |
| Attachments | Insulation, steel cores, connectors and fittings listed |
| Preparation | Coiled, bundled, baled or chopped |
| Weight basis | Net weight; insulated material on a recovery or sample basis |
| Grade | What it means |
|---|---|
| Talon | New, clean, unalloyed aluminium wire or cable, free of hair wire, ACSR, wire screen, iron and insulation. |
| Taste | Old, unalloyed aluminium wire and cable, max 1% free oxide or dirt. |
| Tassel | Old mixed aluminium wire and cable, which may contain up to 10% 6000-series wire. |
| Twang | Insulated aluminium wire scrap, sold on a sample or recovery basis. |
| Tall | Clean EC aluminium, chopped or shredded into nodules, min 99.45% Al. |
| ACSR | Aluminium conductor steel-reinforced. Traded separately with the steel content stated. |
| Format | Configuration |
|---|---|
| Coils and bundles | Wire coiled or bundled and strapped for loading. |
| Bales | Compacted bales for container loading. |
| Chopped material | In bulk bags or loose in containers. |
Remelting into rod, deoxidiser and casting alloys; secondary aluminium production.
It contains a steel core, so the aluminium content is lower than bare conductor and the steel must be separated before melting.
On recovery: the expected weight of aluminium after the insulation is removed, confirmed by sample or trial.
It depends on the product and the lot. The minimum quantity, price and delivery terms are set out in the written quotation.
