Sisal (Agave sisalana) is a strong, coarse leaf fibre used in rope, baler twine, mats, reinforcement and paper pulp. Long brushed line fibre and shorter tow suit different processes.
How grades are stated
Grades follow East African grading rules, which combine fibre length, colour, brushing and cleanliness: Grade 1, A, 2, 3L, UG, UF, SCWF and Tow. The quotation names the grade, bale weight and bale count.
